I'm a little behind. I did 175 sit-ups yesterday and as of today - I only have 679 more to be caught up. If I try for the record that Jack LaLanne did years ago I'd be doing well. {He completed 1,033 sit-ups in 23 minutes} But I doubt that'd last long as I sure wouldn't feel like doing the measely 97 sit-ups tomorrow.
I know at lease one other person out there is behind like me. How many sit-ups are you holding onto right now?

James (Jim) Clark reeled off a world record 2,201 sit ups in one hour at the Mall of America in Bloomington (Minnesota,USA), on June 2, 2006. This broke the existing record of 1,448 by a man from India. It took him just 32 minutes to break the record and he did another 753 by the time his hour was up.
Mark Pfeltz of Baltimore, Maryland set the Guinness Book Of World Records for the maximum number of sit ups, completing 45,005 in 58.5hrs in 1986.
Many years ago, Jack LaLanne set the original benchmark for sit up-ups by completing 1,033 sit-ups in 23 minutes.
March 6, 2002: Brazilian man claimed the world record for the most sit-ups. Edmar Freitas did 111,000 sit-ups in twenty-four hours
Bill Evans, the former record holder for sit-ups, was in the Guinness Book of World Records for doing 103,000 sit-ups in twenty-four hours

Sit-up Habit
So how many days have you skipped so far? Either because you had a busy day, you were too tired, or because you just plain forgot. I'll admit, I've missed once - because I forgot. We're only 15 days into the challenge and there are 350 more days until the finale. The older I get the faster time seems to fly; but, 350 days is a lot of time for events in life to sidetrack us.
For some, this weekend is the first long holiday weekend of the year. The one day off can lead to breaking all the goals we set at the beginning of the year. At this point, making up the missed sit-ups isn't too bad. However, before we know it, the numbers could soon get out of hand. Start now and create a routine that will help you finish the challenge.
There have been studies done showing that it takes about 21 days to form a habit. That's only three weeks. The challenge lasts 52! Do you complete your sit-ups when you get out of bed in the morning? Perhaps just before bed? Maybe after every workout? Pick a time, a place, a partner and try to be consistent about always finishing the sit-ups for the day. You're going to appreciate a well formed routine much more when we get into the 100s. And those days will be here before you know it!
